| As a leading service provider for equipment rental and temporary
Internet connectivity set-up, Malifax is honoured to have the opportunity
to participate and to be part of this historic event in Singapore.
As SingTel’s Platinum Business Partner and a leading Broadband Solution Provider, we were selected to provide equipment and technical assistance in setting up the Internet connection for the IOC Session. Our role was to support the 1,100 members of the local and international media, delegates from the bid cities and the IOC committee members, and to ensure that they get all technical assistance necessary for them to carry out their work. That would cover all the Broadband ADSL, ISDN connections and technical support for all the communication services. Though Malifax may not have a huge dimension, but backed with the experience of having supported many major International events, it gave us that edge over our competitors, in winning the tender for the event.
****************** The 117th IOC Session started on July 2nd till 9th but our preparation work started back in March 2005. Many long meetings were held between the organizing committee and us, to ensure smooth operations. Contingency plans, fault reporting flow and escalation flow were developed to minimize all possible hiccups during the event. In order to better prepare ourselves for the event ahead, internal briefings and trainings for the staff involved were held. This is to ensure that all are able to provide the users with the most efficient assistance in the quickest time possible.
The pre-event set up commenced by end of June and lasted till 3rd July. Together with the organizers and SingTel, our engineers worked around the clock everyday, to set up the Internet connections in all the function rooms. Though we were racing against time for the completion of set-up, we did not want to compromise on the quality of our service. Each connection was tested at least twice to ensure the working condition, before it was handed over to the organizer. As the exclusive distributor of the 2Wire HomePortal wireless routers and with over 25,000 units implemented across the nation, we are confident that our high-performance routers will provide the users with a seamless Internet connection. Our role requires us to support the overseas delegates, so that they are able to proceed with their work via the Internet. One of the challenges we faced, was the last-minute requests by the delegates which were not made known earlier. However, our team was able to respond very quickly to these requests and provided immediate solutions to the delegates so that there will not be any disruption in their work. *******************
